Jana Winderen is a sound artist, curator and producer. She graduated from Fine Art at Goldsmiths College in London and has a background in mathematics and chemistry from the University in Oslo.

Her soundscapes include recordings with hydrophones in rivers in Thailand, far beneath the surface of the North Sea, and crevasses that run into the hearts of icebergs. Winderen researches the hidden depths with the latest technology; her work is said to reveal the complexity and strangeness of the unseen world beneath; a world of mysterious groans, squeaks, and loud unearthly growls, as Winderen's microphones pull sounds from depths beneath the ice pack in the frozen north.

Her most recent sound works include "Evaporation" (2009), for TodaysArt in the Hague, based on hydrophone recordings from Disco Bay, Greenland. She recently released the CD “Heated: Live in Japan” (2009) on Touch (UK), the 7 inch vinyl “Surface Runoff” (2008) on Autofact (USA) and the audio cassette “The noisiest guys on the planet” on Ash International (2009).

Jana has exhibited and performed her work in Canada, Japan, Russia, USA, Spain, China, Thailand, France, Hungary, Denmark, England, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Belgium and Sweden.
